Acoustic Jazzmaster
The first guitar of this year builds off of the final one of last year, the all black Jazzmaster. A close look reveals the exact same body and neck dimensions, the neck even came from the same piece of Ribbon Sapele.
There is one huge difference though: this one is an acoustic!
Key features include:
Book matched spruce top
Solid mahogany body with 1/4” bottom and sides
Ribbon sapele neck
Black Diamond Richlite fretboard
Piezo-style pickups placed around the underside
Building this was a pretty cool process. The bracing (while likely not strong) seems to do it’s job and there’s enough surface area in the lower body to use as a drum while plugged in. Because of the standard electric body and neck dimensions, it has electric play-ability. It even has a decent sound, while not nearly the same as a real full-sized acoustic, it’s much better than I was expecting.
This one safely arrived in California, happy birthday Dad!
