Set-neck Jazzmaster
This is the first guitar that was designed from the ground up instead of following router templates. While based on the Jazzmaster shape, I drew the body and all components in CAD without directly tracing an existing design. Then, using the Shapeoko CNC I cut the body and neck out. Because of this, the neck pocket ended up so perfect that I decided to glue it which I think has really helped with the acoustic resonance of it.
The body is made from African Mahogany, the neck is Ribbon Sapele and the fretboard is Katalox. The body and parts of the neck were stained black. While it doesn’t show great in pictures, the wood grain is still visible through the stain which I think has a neat effect.
Following what I did with with my last guitar, I decided to wind my own P-90 style pickups which sound great! I also decided to print a hang-tag, just to make it feel like a more complete project.
This is the last project of 2022, onto 2023 to see what’s next! Happy new year!
